Residential & Commercial Tree Inspections
A tree inspection performed by a Red Cedar professional arborist can tell you whether your trees are in good health or decline, and whether they are safe or unsafe. Our tree inspectors identify a range of commonly seen pests, diseases and disorders that affect tree safety, providing recommendations for tree health and care.
Common Warning Signs of Hazard Trees
Excavation
If any trenching, grading, filling or other substance (digging) activities have occurred under the tree.
Tree Root, Soil Restructuring & Air Spade
Most plant health care issues start at the root. Tree roots are a big part of tree health. By using an air spade to break up compacted soil, delicate roots, underground pipes, and hard surfaces are not damaged. When roots fail to work properly the tree will eventually decline and die.
Lean
Trees do not necessarily grow straight up. However, trees with a significant lean may indicate a problem. Leaning trees should be carefully inspected by our arborists.
Multiple Trunks
Some trees develop multiple trunks. Trees with multiple trunks can, however, break if the trunks are weakly attached. Multiple trunked trees should be inspected for stability by our arborist.
Limb and Trunk Weaknesses
Our arborists can inspect the trunk and large branches for peeling bark and hollow or decayed areas. Mushrooms or conks growing on or at the base of a tree are signs of decay-causing fungus. Inspect the trunk and large branches for cracks. Deep, large cracks indicate structural weakness in the tree and need careful evaluation.
Hangers
Hangers are broken branches still lodged in the tree. Whether partially attached or separately completed from the trunk, hangers are likely to fall and should be removed. Stubs left by broken branches should be pruned correctly to discourage decay.
Deadwood
Deadwood, or dead branches, often indicate tree stress and pose safety concerns to areas below the tree. Branches over two inches in diameter can cause serious damage when they fall. During our inspection our arborist will evaluate the dead branches and advise the right solution.
Insect and Disease
Insects and diseases affect many parts of the tree. Our arborists can detect these problems at low levels and recommend appropriate treatments. This can prevent major impacts on tree health.
